Myoko Powder Chalet is a recently renovated, self-catered chalet on the hillside above Lake Nojiri in Nagano Prefecture. It’s built for groups and families: five bedrooms sleep up to ten, with a full kitchen, a large dining area and three separate living spaces, including a new media and games room.

Myoko is known for deep snow, quieter slopes and shorter lift queues than Japan’s busier resorts. Getting here: Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano, about 80mins, then 30 mins by car to the chalet.

Skiing and snow country around Myoko

Several ski areas are a short drive from the chalet, including Myoko Suginohara, Ikenotaira Onsen, Akakura Kanko, Akakura Onsen, Seki Onsen, Kurohime Kogen, Madarao and Lotte Arai Resort. Away from the lifts, there’s plenty more to explore.
